Highlights from recent Parish Council Meeting

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 19 Aug 2010 in Parish Council ::

  • Ministry to young children (through playgroup) is really booming as both playgroups are now full. There is a possibility of starting a “Mums and Bubs” group on Friday mornings next term. There is however, a great need for Christian mums (or dads) with small children, to come to the playgroups to build relationships with those from outside the church.
  • We heard about the upcoming Marriage Course (see below)
  • We were challenged to think about how we as a church are addressing the issues of world poverty and inequality. Some possible programs are being evaluated.
  • A request has been made for regular “Prayer and Praise” nights, which will hopefully get off the ground soon.
  • Finally, there are some major property issues coming up, which will inevitably cause a drain on our finances.

The marriage course

In term 3, we will be running The Marriage Course (from Holy Trinity Brompton) , over 8 Saturday nights, starting Saturday the 28th of August. There will be 4 meetings in Term 3 and 4 in Term 4. This will be an excellent opportunity to spend some time strengthening our most important relationship – with our spouse. Please contact Steve Layson as soon as possible on steven.layson@stpeterseastlindfield.org.au if you are interested in joining the course.

A strong, loving and lifelong relationship doesn’t happen by chance. It takes effort and dedication to keep the fun and romance alive. We can all learn how to make even the happiest marriage better.

Anglicare Tinned Food Appeal

In the meantime, however, cash donations to Anglicare are an alternative way to help as they can be used to provide food vouchers to the needy.

World Vision Presentation in Kids Club this Sunday

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 11 Aug 2010 in ::

There will be a representation from World Vision to come and speak to the kids about the work that they are doing… it’s been really good for the Sunday Kids to think a lot about life outside East Lindfield & what we, as Christians, can do to help those in need.
