Laysons holiday and mission

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 18 Dec 2011 in ::

The Laysons hope to be (Visa’s permitting) spending the last 3 weeks in January in I-r-k-u-t-s-k, S-i-b-e-r-i-a. Although they may have done terrible things to warrant being sent there, Steve & Lorna will be teaching the first subject of Moore College’s “PTC” Course to church leaders in that city. Please pray for them all during their time there. During their absence, David Reay will be conducting services here at St Peters. {If anyone has any clothing that would be helpful in -40C, please contact Steve or Lorna!}

Evening Services 2012

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 06 Dec 2011 in ::

After much prayer and discussion, we have decided to combine our two evening services in 2012. This marks an end of an era at St Peter’s, as the two services have had a great impact on the lives of many of our young people. We look forward with great anticipation to see how God will use our new service.

Phone recycling

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 09 Nov 2011 in ::

If you have an old mobile phone that no longer works, you can now bring it to church to have it recycled. There is a collection box at the entrance to the church where you can put your old phones. The money raised from this will go towards helping young Australians survive cancer.

We will be taking 20 minutes out of each of our services next Sunday (13th Nov) to complete the survey. So please make sure you’re there to have your say.

Accomodation/work for a young man

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 22 Oct 2011 in ::

This is required in Dec/Jan/Feb for ex-St Peterite Ricky James, 18, who lives in Brisbane with his family and would like to spend time in Sydney over the Uni break. He comes with references and would idealy like to house-sit/pet-sit whilst people are on holidays – not necessarily for the whole period, short-term (ie 2 weeks+) would be OK. If you or your friends could use Ricky’s services, please contact Barb Gerber.

Earth Church Day

0 comments | Posted by St Peters on 22 Oct 2011 in ::

Earth Church Day will be on the 30th of October.

God has given us the privilege of being stewards of his creation. Next Sunday we will be thinking about what impact that will have on the way we live each day. This should be an excellent opportunity to invite friends & family to church.

This will also be a “walk to church” Sunday. So, consider leaving the car at home that Sunday and try walking (or riding) the family to church. Of course, make sure you leave in plenty of time… we wouldn’t want to start any of our services late because people weren’t there!

Ladies !!! Making Christmas Cards

Plan to come along and make your own cards and enjoy a time of fellowship together – this is for women of all ages.

This week sees the beginning of the annual Sydney Anglican Diocese Synod (which is basically the yearly AGM for the whole diocese). Some of the big issues that will be discussed are: A new governance structure for the diocese, decisions about funding priorities into the future & discussions regarding what services are, and are not, approved for use in churches. Please pray for all members of Synod, especially for Bruce Goldingay, Bruce York and Steve Layson as they attend.
