Semus & Rachel

From: Seumas and Rachel Macdonald

Hello to you all,

Well, it’s been a particularly chilly week in Sydney, with those winds making life a little sharp, but we just keep remembering Mongolia and think “it’s not that bad”.

Partner Development

Firstly, thank you for your prayers! Rachel has just done a unit on the spiritual dangers of mission, and we are ever aware that your prayers on our behalf are keeping us safe and healthy, both now and in the future.

Secondly, it has been so encouraging being surprised by who God calls to support us. It is a real reminder that God is the one who provides for all our needs. Thank you very much to those whom God has graciously provided the means to provide for us.

We are currently at about 5% of our total. I think this is because some of you think, “ah, I don’t need to send that pledge form in for ages, because Seumas and Rachel aren’t going until next year”. It’s true that we aren’t going until next year, it’s not true that that means you can just sit on a pledge form indefinitely. So let me gently encourage those of you who have been meaning to ‘get around to it’ to get around to it today.

Mongolia night

We have slotted in July 23rd to have a Mongolia night. One of our friends who has been over to Mongolia will be making some Mongolia buuz, which will be fun for all, and David and Wendy who have been in Mongolia for a number of years will be along to share a bit about the country and what is going on there, and we’ll do some other fun things (i.e. I don’t know what else we are doing yet, but I promise fun). So put July 23rd in your diary/calendar/phone/the back of your hand, and it would be helpful if you even rsvp’d to me.

Those prayer cards

Apologies to those I have not sent prayer cards to yet, I have the same administration procrastination you do, but they will be on their way. We had to buy some extra magnets, that held us up a little. Anyway, if you emailed me I have a prayer card in a pile of envelopes to be sent tomorrow morning, so fret no longer.

News from us

Seumas is continuing to enjoy life at Lane Cove. The senior minister has gone on long service leave, so there are a few extra things to do around the place. The weekend before last I joined the younger youth for a camp and spoke about the ninjas of the Bible – much fun. The news has but recently come through that my MTh thesis has been passed (at last!), so the PhD application can now move forward. I’m entering a powerlifting competition in early July and speaking at CMS’s MMM camp, which are both things you could pray for (er, in regards to the former that I continue making some connections that lead to opportunities for Jesus).

Rachel has just handed in her last assignments, and is completely done with two of her three subjects. All that remains is an Old Testament exam worth 50%. This is a bit daunting, but hopefully some good study will see her through. She is now trying to sort out what study she can do next semester considering our Europe trip which lands smack in the middle of semester. Work at Matthias Media continues to be a great joy.

So thanks for all your prayers and ongoing encouragement, and we look forward to seeing and hearing more from you all.
