The Centre of the Christian Faith

You don’t have to search too far to discover the focal point of the Christian faith. Christianity, not surprisingly is all about the “Christ”… it’s all about Jesus. (“Wow”, I hear you say, “tell me something I didn’t know!”)

But can I ask you, “what do you think of when you think of Jesus?” For some, he is just a baby lying in a manger. For others, he is the friendly looking man (flowing blond hair, icy blue eyes and a neatly trimmed beard) who walks around wearing a bed sheet, carrying lambs and small children. For some, he is an object of ridicule & the source of great “Stand-up” material. For still others he is merely a swear word. But as Jesus himself says to Peter in Mt 16:15 “What about you? Who do you say that I am?”

Each of us has to decide what we think of this man & how we’ll respond to him. That is why we will be spending the whole of first term looking at Jesus. We will be looking in some detail at the ways in which the Apostle Matthew describes the different aspects of his character and mission.

So, let me invite you to come with us as we investigate once more the primary evidence concerning the most important person in history… Jesus, the Christ.
