A New Thought

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share with you all an idea that Shauna had recently about how might meet a need that is apparent in our community.

As you will be aware, it is quite a difficult time when a new baby is born (especially if there are other young children to care for at the same time). Shauna’s idea was that if there were a team of people who were interested (and had some experience in dealing with kids… either from having them or at least babysitting them), we could offer to provide some people who could come in and help people over the hurdle of the first few weeks. For example, if someone had just had a baby, but also has other young children, we could offer to come over a couple of evenings per week to perhaps do some washing, cleaning, or to help deal with the other children through mealtimes, stories, homework etc. Obviously, the actual help given would totally depend on the person involved and we could offer as much, or as little help as was wanted.

Of course, people around East Lindfield can generally afford to hire nannies etc to do this kind of thing, but we thought it might be a way that we, as a church, could show love to the people around us who are in need in this way.

If you are at all interested in being involved in this kind of ministry, or just have some comments or ideas, I’d love to hear back from you.

Thanks,

Steve.
