But I'm no evangelist!!!

I’m sure you will have picked up by now that pretty soon we will be Holding an evangelistic mission (only 5 weeks in fact). But, I hear you say, “I can’t be of much help. After all, I’m no evangelist!” But you couldn’t be more wrong!

On our recent weekend away, we were challenged to realise that everyone We know is in need of hearing the gospel, and that we can all play a part in this. This does not mean, of course, that we all need to go confronting people on the streets, or lobbing bibles like hand-grenades through our neighbour’s windows! God has made us all with different gifts and passions, and he calls us to use them for his glory.

So, how can we be involved in the mission coming up? Here are some suggestions:

  • Pray – for your friends who don’t know Jesus (have you filled in your prayer credit card yet?), as well as for all the different events that will be happening throughout the week. Come to the Parish Prayer Meeting on Thursday the 5th April at 8pm in the church.
  • Be hospitable – have a Moore College Student to stay at your place throughout the week (have you handed in a billet form yet?), and if you do, invite some of your friends around for a meal to meet them
  • Be an inviter – check out the mission timetable (have you got your green one up on the fridge yet?), consider prayerfully which events your friends would be interested in coming to & invite them to come along with you.
  • Be an organiser – If you have some friends with a shared common interest, organise a small event with just them and a few of the students where you can come together to talk about your interest and the gospel
  • Be a servant – There may be events that you don’t have any friends to invite to. How about volunteering to come along and do some of the “behind the scenes” jobs, so that those who do bring their friends along don’t have to be busy doing jobs.

All in all, there are many ways that you can be involved in the upcoming mission… indeed, if you aren’t, it will not succeed. So please prayerfully consider how you might jump in and get involved.
