On the way home

Hi all,
Just a quick message in between travel.
We’ve just returned to the Kulikov’s home after a week at camp. The campsite was about 1000% better than last year’s one. It was absolutely beautiful with wooden cabins nestled in among pines and birch trees. The food has been amazing as it was done by some of the church members… we’ll have to come home to lose a bit of weight I think!
Both Lorna and my talks went really well I think. They both raised some really significant issues for the people and the church and I hope they will be a catalyst for some good things to happen there. The people have been wonderful, as usual, and we are both sad to be leaving them (though very excited to be on the way home). You’ll all be pleased to know that they now are all well versd in “Give me a home among the gumtrees”, with accompanying actions!
During the week, we had an opportunity to visit the children’s shelter. We met the director and I had the opportunity to play football with some of the boys who live there.
Please pass this on to whomever you think would be interested and we are praying that church goes well on Sunday (thanks heaps Swanny and Shauna etc for keeping the place running while we’ve been away. We look forward to giving you all some detailed accounts when we get back,
Steve.
Mum/Lorna here…
Privet! (Hi!) We have just packed our bags, with lots of help from 2 year old Misha who likes plugging everything in to our adaptor, and loves the luggage tags. Seryosha (9) has just come in with a carrot each, freshly picked from their wonderful vege garden. There is hardly any grass here. What a waste of space it would be. Much better to have potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, strawberries, peas, fruit trees… YUM
We will miss the freshly picked strawberries with icecream that comes out of a plastic bag!
It is so nice to see the Kulikovs again, and I anticipate a teary farewell. As Steve said, the camp was wonderful, but gosh it’s nice to be clean again. We did have a swim in cold Baikal and had a banya (like a sauna) so we weren’t too smelly.
Anyway, can’t wait to see our special people, and please keep praying for the church here. There are so many social problems in R-u-s-s-i-a , especially with drunkenness among men and a lack of suitable partners for so many women.
Lots of love,
Mum/Lorna
