Cotton News re Training, Australia and beyond!

Dear Friends,

Well … we are knocking hurdles over one by one now – in the positive sense of working through an order of things to be done prior to what now seems to be clear for the remainder of 2010 and beyond.

Thank you so much for your prayers … as we have had to consider some fairly significant matters for us in the spiritual, practical and financial realm, to get to this place we’re in now … which is:

1. We are confirmed to go to six weeks of OMS training in the US in July/August, and prior to that we have three weeks to attend my sister’s wedding and meet her new family (Alison is marrying a widowed Pastor from a North Carolina church), re-unite with Sarala and Jonathon (my neice and nephew, now 17 and 19) and speak in some US churches about Mission work in Spain. In the absence of Mum and my other sister, Heather, we will be the only family on Alison’s side able to attend. We are very excited for Alison and Brad, as they prepare to marry on June 14

2. We will have all three kids with us and then return to Australia for a period of work with OMS Australia to raise awareness of our work in Spain, and to seek support for our next longer term period of work here re-commencing in Jan 2011

As mentioned, we are tackling matters one by one, but may we alert you to the feeling of this is not for the faint-hearted, and at times we are too faint!! We have purchased the tickets on credit card (FF points) today, for a very reasonable price – the cheapest by a long way!

Our biggest hurdle still to be sorted is the provision of some people to stay in the Algete home here in Madrid who can pay the balance of the rent owing for the period we are away, and to house-sit so to keep us and our landlord happy. We have what we believe are some very solid contenders – but to secure them we may need alternative accommodation for them for two months prior to our departure. Please pray with us for this and for adequate rental income to cover our rental outflow. Furthermore, we have ‘in-principle’ permission from our landlord, but this needs to be made water-tight and workable for all concerned.

PLEASE pray for this to be sorted quickly, easily and without insurmountable costs.

I have been delighted to secure suitable flights and fares, US church connections, and some possible housing arrangements in Sydney, as well as Algete … but we would love for both of these to be firmed up asay … yes – that’s as soon as yesterday!

We shall keep you posted. Thanks for your interest and prayers, ‘cause we realise the foolishness of trying to do anything without Him… as we know it’s the Lord’s work here – not ours!! It feels good to have made these decisions and know now our movements, now, for the rest of the year and beyond.

With love from David and Catherine, Sophie, Laura and Joshua
