It’s time for some May News!
Since coming back, and as I think we said in our last email, the rough plan has been to aim to head back to Mongolia next June/July, for Seumas to get a job mid-this-year, and for Rachel to study at SMBC for a year starting this July. So our big news is that this plan is looking fairly unlikely at the moment. Seumas applied for a ministry position at a church, and was offered a job, which would have started quite promptly, and run through until January of next year. As we went through that application process, it became apparent that taking the job would seriously jeopardise Seumas’s progress on the Masters, which we think it’s fairly crucial to have completed before we head overseas. So, with that in mind, we turned down the job.
Given the combination of study pressures and the job climate, it thus looks fairly unlikely we’ll be able to simply swap roles in July. So, with a fair degree of disappointment, we’ve shelved plans for Rachel to study in the second half of the year, unless another major change occurs!
In Pioneers-related news, we sat down and did some psych tests recently, which have been sent off, and we have a follow-up interview with a psychologist this month. Sometime this month we’ll get some medicals done as well. This should help move our application along!
Things to pray for:
- Rachel at work. Her job has been a hard slog for some time and it is disheartening to know that it will continue indefinitely. Pray that she keeps making the most of being in a secular environment by witnessing Jesus.
- Seumas at study. Currently Seumas is in at college working 8 to 4:30 M-F. Pray for efficiency of study, speediness of completion, and godliness in learning.
- Job-hunting/decisions. Especially pray that we might have wisdom about pursuing part-time church employment, which might be good but would definitely be an upheaval.
