Moore College Mission

Many of you are aware, I’m sure, that our church (along with St Albans and All Saints West Lindfield) has been accepted as a site for one of next year’s Moore College Missions. This will be an exciting time for us as a church, as it provides an excellent opportunity for us to be involved in some focussed outreach in our area.
“But that’s not till next year, do I need to be doing anything about it at this stage?” I hear you say. Well, now that you ask, there are some things we can be doing right now in preparation for the mission. Here are just a few:
- Pray – You will remember from our series on “Promoting the Gospel” earlier this year of the importance of prayer in outreach – without it we are wasting our time. Please pray for your non-Christian friends and family – that God would start drawing them to himself; pray for yourself – that God might give you wisdom and courage as it comes time to invite people to different events; pray for those organising events – that all preparations would go smoothly; pray for those who will be leading or speaking at the different events – that they will be faithful to God’s word, engaging & that God would use them to bring salvation to others.
- Think – What kinds of things would you be comfortable inviting your non-Christian friends to? What would make it easier to say ‘Yes’ to such an invitation? Share your ideas with Steve or the organising groups
- Set aside time – Before next year begins, blank out some time in your diary to be available to come to different events in the week from 29th April-6th May. Also, keep the weekend of the 9-11th April free for our Parish Weekend Away, where we will be receiving some teaching and skills training from some “experts” on outreach.
- Get involved – The mission week (and other events) will be a complete disaster if we aren’t all in it together. So why not volunteer to join one of the organising groups, or gather your own group for a small get together with friends where you the gospel can be proclaimed. Wonderful things can happen, & God’s name is glorified when the whole body of Christ works together, with each person playing their part.
