A Year at St Peter's

The Annual General Meeting of our Church (or “Vestry Meeting”) is a perfect opportunity to look back and think about the good things and not so good things we’ve been through together for the past year.
It’s important to look back and give thanks to God for the great blessings we have received from being part of this church. For me (and I’m sure for many others), probably the greatest blessing has been the relationships we have with each other. I have been encouraged and challenged again and again by my beautiful family here at St Peter’s.
I’ve also enjoyed the privilege of meeting so freely together to spend time in God’s word and to get to know him better. It’s easy to take for granted how fortunate we are in this, as there are many Christians throughout the world who do not have this freedom. It’s also been a great encouragement to me to see so many people carving out time in their week to study the bible together. What a great bunch of Bible Study leaders we have, who are so willing to put in the time and effort needed to make sure the groups keep growing!
Of course, there have also been some difficulties and sadnesses over the past year. We’ve lost a number of dearly loved members of our community – some have moved homes and jobs, some have gone to other churches and some have died & gone to be with God. We mourn their loss, but are thankful to God for the blessings they brought into our lives while they were here. For those who have moved to other churches, we pray that God will continue to bless them and others through them.
This time of year is also a good time to meditate on what God wants us to do with the church as it is today. What are our strengths? What are our weaknesses? What new initiatives should we try? What old ones should be strengthened, or stopped altogether? Please join with us as we stop and pray for our church, that God might go with us as we seek to be a community that is committed to loving God, loving each other, and bringing Christ’s love to the world.
