Happy Anniversary St Peters!

Paul starts his letter to the Ephesians with, “Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”. He goes on to describe just some of the benefits of being Christian, in terms of our eternity. These “heavenly” blessings also have huge implications for our lives here and now. The Christian faith is not just about the “hereafter”, but about a lively experience of God and his many blessings in our day-to-day lives.
Anniversaries are an excellent time to count the many blessings God has given us in this place. Here are just a few things that we can be thankful for here at St. Peter’s:
- 57 years of faithful gospel preaching. God has brought many people to salvation, encouraged many more to grow in their relationship with him and their lives of godliness, & even challenged more than a few onto the mission field or into full-time ministry.
- A flourishing Children’s and Youth Ministry – it’s so exciting to see the numbers of kids (especially those from “non-church” families) who take part in the three different groups on a Friday night. But it’s more than the numbers, it’s also great to see the way young Christians are taking their faith in God seriously and seeking to live in a way that pleases him.
- Over 90 adults across our parish get together at various times and in various places to study the bible together and to pray for and support one another.
- A loving community. St. Peter’s has always been a friendly and welcoming place, but it is also a place where those in need are cared for and supported. Our four congregations minister to people in all ages and stages of life.
- A constant positive impact in our community. Whether it’s through the playgroups, Scripture or through the new ministry to the retrenched people in our area, St. Peter’s continues to make positive contributions to the lives of those around us, and to show what impact a faith in God can have.
I’m sure there are many other blessings you can think of that God has given us, but overall, we’re just thankful that he has brought us together in Christ to love him, love each other & bring Christ’s love to the world.
