So Long, And Thanks for all the Fish

OK, so I’m not a dolphin, nor am I in Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy, nor am I flying off into outerspace, however, this is my last chance to write before we go away. My family and I are very excited about the possibility of going on Long Service Leave and would greatly value your prayers while we are away.

Before I go however, I would like to make a few parting exhortations. With Paul I would encourage you to, “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58) It’s been a great start to the year, but now everything is underway, we must not deviate from the task at hand, ie to give ourselves fully to the work of God in this place.

In particular, of course, let me encourage you to keep going back to our church motto as a way of guiding your Christian walk.

Keep looking Upward to God. There is nothing more important than growing in your relationship with Him. Keep praying, keep reading his word & keep encouraging each other to guide all you do by obedience to His will.

Keep looking Inward towards each other. Life has so many ups and downs. It can be hard to keep going as a Christian in the face of sickness, job-loss or bereavement, so make sure we are always there for each other to pray and show practical Christian love.

Finally keep looking Outward to the world. There are so many lost souls in East Lindfield; so many people living with no understanding or appreciation of who God is His great love for them. Keep on praying. Keep on connecting. Keep on talking to people about the Saviour that you know and love.

Though I’m expecting to have a fantastic time away, I’m also looking forward to coming back and rejoining my family here as we seek to grow in our knowledge and love of God together, and to take his love to our friends, family and neighbours.
