Many thanks to those who came along to our AGM last Sunday. It was a very encouraging time, as well as an opportunity to elect new office bearers in the church for 2009. Here are some highlights for those who missed it:

  1. Church representatives:
    * Wardens – Stephen Humphrys, Bruce York, Val Whatham
    * Parish Council – Bruce Goldingay, Jan Royle, John Carrick, Kate Ballantyne, Mark Studd, Matt Noble, Philippa McLoughlin, Stirling Brain
    * Nominators – Andrew McLoughlin, Bruce York, Jan Royle, Mark Studd, Stephen Humphrys
    * KDCEA Reps – Barbara Gerber, Lorna Layson
    * Auditor – Donald Garton
  2. Finances : Although offertories increased in 2008, as expected the global financial crisis has adversely affected our investments (down by 1/3rd). This will have severe implications for future staffing in particular, meaning we will need to continue to keep a close eye on things if we are not to simply squander these investments. Church members are once again encouraged to use the Direct Deposit option for their offertories.
  3. We had some really helpful conversations about prayer, with some new and innovative structures suggested to help us to pray (eg SMS prayers).
  4. We were encouraged to hear that we now have 80 people in ten different home groups – a great way to build community and to grow together in our love for God.
    Of course, Connect 09 was also discussed & we were very excited about the new ministry to those affected by the Global Economic Crisis in particular.
  5. It was again encouraging to be reminded about the great growth in our children’s and youth ministries under the guidance of Shauna and Rob. We are all very thankful for their ministry and leadership.
