Only 334 days till Christmas … and it seems like just a month ago that we had the last one!
So what can we expect from 2009? Quite apart from the economic doom and gloom, there are some exciting things to look forward to at St Peters in 2009:
- Connect 09 – will hopefully be a huge turning point in the life of our church. The goal for the year is for us to become a church that actively & prayerfully seeks to make connections with our community, with the aim of showing the love of Christ and helping them to come into a true relationship with Jesus. Indeed, the economic downturn may well provide some great opportunities to bring Gods love to those who are in need.
- Jesus. All about Life. This television campaign will be conducted during September and will put Jesus on the agenda in our community. It will open up opportunities for everyone in our church to talk to people about the hope & life that Jesus has brought us.
- Bible Study Home Groups – will again be a focus this year. There are plans to start at least one more group which will go back to the basics in Christianity Explored.
- Parish Council will have a new focus on ministry and outreach this year, acting as a support and guide for all our ministry areas.
- The ministry teams for the 9.45am service will continue to sharpen our services, pastoral care, welcoming and outreach.
- The 7pm service, with an injection of younger members will take new strides towards self-governance and outreach.
- And probably the most exciting thing of all is that once again we will have the opportunity to meet together to worship our creator, to listen to what he has to say in his word, to learn to love him more and to care for and encourage one another.
