Vestry Meeting Minutes

I’d like to start by saying a big thank you to all those who came to the Vestry Meeting last Sunday. It was a very encouraging time & a great opportunity to get together with people from all four congregations. Here are some of the highlights:
- We spent some time thinking about “Connect 09”, which is a diocese-wide outreach initiative for the year of 2009. We were challenged to pray for one person we know who isn’t Christian, for one street and one community organisation.
- We looked forward to this afternoon’s Cross-Cultural Ministry Seminar, where we will consider how we can bring the good news about Jesus to the many people from different backgrounds in our area.
- We discussed the church finances, which may sound boring, but actually left us with the challenge to meet an increased level of funding to keep supporting our children’s and youth ministries.
- We gave thanks to those who have served the church over the past year & in particular to Andrew Kemp who has pulled out of Parish Council for the first time in over 20 years! What a great servant and godly role-model he has been!
- We elected the following people to positions of leadership in the church:
* Wardens: Stephen Humphrys, Bruce York, Val Whatham
* Parish Council: Bruce Goldingay, Jan Royle, Mark Studd, Matthew Noble, Andy Bell & Kate Ballantyne
* Nominators: Stephen Humphrys, Bruce Goldingay, Joyce Liu, Jan Royle, Mark Studd
* Synod Reps: Bruce York, Stephen Humphrys
* KDCEA Reps: Lorna Layson, Philippa McLoughlin.
I look forward to seeing what God has in store for us all this year!
