Last Meeting of 2011 - Parish Council News

Here are some of the highlights of the (long) Parish Council meeting last Tuesday:
- A small working party will be looking into the possibility of obtaining a grant to install a “Disabled Toilet” on street level in the church.
- An informal “Parish Guest Lunch” Day will be held on Sunday the 18th March. At this event, members of the various congregations will be able to either host or visit others for lunch. Stay tuned for more.
- We heard about the wonderful “Zing” outreach to children and youth, which was held in January this year. Quite apart from the great fun that was had by all, it was an excellent opportunity for the many “unchurched” kids to hear about Jesus. As a result, our children’s and youth ministries have started off with a bang (62 teenagers at “Couch” on the first week!). To top it all off, a profit of ~$2000 was made that will go towards further resourcing our children’s and youth ministries.
- The biggest agenda item was the annual budget, which will be presented to the Annual Vestry Meeting… more on that there.
- Parish Prayer Days will be on again this year. The first of which will be held on Wednesday the 19th Feb. All Bible Studies will be cancelled on that week to make it easier for all members of the church to come together to pray.
This was the last meeting of the current Parish Council. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the members, who have contributed so much over the past year.
It is also important to note that at our annual vestry meeting (in 2 weeks time), we will be electing a new Parish Council for 2012. Please think carefully and prayerfully about whether you, or someone you know, would like to serve St Peters in this way.
