Annual Vestry Meeting

Next Sunday is our church’s Annual Vestry Meeting, which will be preceeded by a combined service. This is a very important day for our Parish Family. Not only will it provide a rare opporutnity for our whole Parish to be together in one place at one time, they vestry meeting itself will officially launch our year together.
One of the key elements of any vestry meeting is the elections for the various official roles in our church this year. The people who take up these roles will have a huge influence on the future direction of our church. These are the roles and a brief description of what they entail:
Church Wardens – Have “the charge, control and administration of all money & other property of the church”. They also have concern for the “spiritual tone” & direction of the parish, ie they are responsible for the day to day running of the church.
Parish Council – “Confer with the leadership team in the initiation, conduct and development of church work, including such matters as are vital to the spiritual welfare of the church.” Work with the Wardens and Staff to keep the church moving forward.
Synod Representative – To represent our church at the Annual Synod for the Diocese of Sydney (which runs for five afternoon/evenings in Sept/Oct) for the next three years. You too can have a say in the running of the Diocese!
Parish Nominator – In the event that the Rector (ie me!) permanently leaves the parish, it is the role of the nominators, to find a suitable replacement. (It’s the nominators fault I’m here!)
KDCEA Representative – To assist in administration of the KDCEA and to liaise with the Parish. A vital support for this important ministry.
As you can see, each of these positions is an extremely responsible one, and so are not to be entered into lightly. However, they are vital for the effective and efficient running of our church. It is important that we get committed, godly men and women to fill these roles.
So please pray for the elections next weekend. Please ask God whether he wants you to be involved in any of these areas, or if there is someone you could nominate for one or more of the positions.
