Connecting with our World

Christmas is an exciting time. It is the time we celebrate the fact that God “connected” with our world in an unimaginable way – he became one of us. Just ponder the lengths God went to for us. As Paul writes in Philippians, “Jesus, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!” (Phil 2:5-8)

Of course, God still wants to connect with our world, but now he has chosen to do it through us! I wonder what lengths we are prepared to go to, to connect with our community with the gospel.

With this in mind, the Anglican Church in Sydney has decided to undertake an exciting venture. “In 2009 we are planning one of the greatest make-Jesus-known campaigns ever seen in this country. The aim is to challenge all our churches to make contact and connect with their communities in a way we have not done before.” – Archbishop Peter Jensen

In short, all the Anglican churches in Sydney will be working together in a concerted effort to bring the good news of Jesus to our city.

This will be a challenging task, but of course, we do not approach it alone – for God will be with us. As a result, it is important we begin this process today by coming before our God in prayer. We need to begin praying for our neighbours, our friends and family, that God would move in their hearts and connect with them.

We will hear more about this program in the new year, but if you want to find out some more details, you can find them on the internet at: http://your.sydneyanglicans.net/mission/connect09.
